A Dividend King is a company that's grown its dividend payment for at least 50 consecutive years.
Some of the greatest dividend stocks on Earth are brand-name, time-tested companies that have been increasing their payouts for decades. Perfect examples include Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) and Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO), which have each increased their base annual payouts for 61 consecutive years.
Higher interest rates have weighed on valuations across the space, keeping their yields high. Stag Industrial (NYSE: STAG), Realty Income (NYSE: O), and Mid-America Apartment Communities (NYSE: MAA) currently offer dividend yields that are more than double that of the S&P 500.

Some definitions let them get away with just 40 years, but to be true kings, many investors like to see 50 consecutive years of increases.
